The power of exercise

Are you feeling down, stressed out, tired, or overwhelmed? What's the first thing you'd do to make yourself feel better? Reaching for the ice cream or for coffee? How about trying to do some exercise.

When we think of exercise all we've been taught think is that it is for weight loss, but no one thinks about how it can increase energy, improve mood and so much more. That is without a doubt a much better reason to exercise rather than to look skinny or toned. We should be exercising to boost our endorphins and improve our mood.

No matter how I feel I can always guarantee that a workout will fix my mood. Even when I am at my lowest, I will drag myself out of bed and get to the gym because I know that I always feel 10x better for doing it.

When you have experienced low times and mental health issues you appreciate so much more feeling pure happiness, so why do people not think to use exercise as medicine? The one thing that is proven to improve your mood naturally and so many people are missing out on that. Exercising has got me through some extremely dark times and it's the one thing I know I can always rely on and it's always there.

When people get stressed out at work or overwhelmed from a stressful day with the kids no one ever thinks to go and do some exercise, people are much more likely to sit on the sofa and eat comfort food, which never really makes them feel better.

The feeling exercise can bring when you achieve a personal best, lift the heaviest weights you've done, or just simply make it to the gym is the only high I need. It may seem silly to some, especially those who don't do any exercise, but it can honestly be so powerful.

Doesn't matter if you do a 10-minute walk or go to the gym for an hour, doing any kind of exercise, no matter how big all small WILL improve your mood. Sometimes it might sometimes only be slightly, but surely improving your mood slightly is better than not at all? It's just a bit of time out, a time to forget about your worries, and your problems and feel stress-free.

Try it today, do a little bit of exercise and see how you feel, I promise you it will be worth it.
